Owned from 1969 until his death earlier this year by respected race engineer Jim Whitehouse, owner of Arden Engineering and Sports Cars. After racing Bentleys in the 1950s, Jim achieved great success over the next three decades preparing Minis, Fords and Toyotas for saloon car racing and rallying. Jim designed his own eight-port head for the Mini Cooper S and Alec Poole drove the car to an outright win in the 1969 British Saloon Car Championship. Jim also built the Corolla engines for Per Eklund's all-conquering British Open Rally Championship season, and Celica units for David Llewellyn's GT4, as well as race engines for Win Percy and Barry Sheene.
This car has always been impeccably maintained by the owner and is in excellent, original condition throughout. It has the rare manual overdrive gearbox.
