Car to be at auction 7/21
www.brightwellslive.com/lot/details/534102
Auction description:
1966 Jaguar S-Type 3.4 S
Lot 151
Estimate: £12,000-14,000
Nice car from long term ownership; manual 3.4 with O/D; recent clutch, servo and wood renovation works- ready to be enjoyed
Dating from April 1966 this smart S-Type features the proven 210bhp 3.4 straight-six as found in the ever-popular MkII Jag and here is mated to Jaguar’s own 4-speed manual gearbox with synchromesh on all gears with optional Laycock A-type overdrive unit fitted to this example.
Finished in grey, the car looks to have been restored at some point, although when we do not know – the history file includes only the V5C showing our vendor has had the car since September 2008, an old style V5C and a few sundry bills for a new servo in Feb 2021 at a cost of £500, a new clutch in October 2020 costing £1,500, wood renovation costing £1,200 in 2019, an old service receipt from 2015 and 1 old MOT in addition to the current (although exempt) valid until June 2022 showing just 2 advisories for a brake pipe covered in grease or other material and a previous repair to a suspension mounting point covered in underseal.
Starting promptly and running both silently and well as we moved it around for these shots the car felt and looked smart with a wonderful interior and classic good looks it has all the charm of the MkII with a little more luxury thrown into the mix – we liked it.
On offer due to advancing years along with the blue XJS Cabriolet in the sale the car looks good value for its condition especially when compared to what a MKII with the same 3.4 lump in the same condition might fetch. Food for thought.
