    Car was at auction 4/10
    www.bonhams.com/cgi-bin/public.sh/pubweb/publicSite.r

    Auction description:
Sale 18210 - Collectors' Motor Cars and Automobilia, 19 Apr 2010
    RAF Museum, Hendon
    Lot No: 340
    1967 Jaguar S-Type 3.8-Litre Saloon
    Registration no. RMK 946F
    Chassis no. 1B56037BW
    Engine no. 7B59913-8

Sold for £12,075 inclusive of Buyer's Premium

This S-Type's logbook show three former keepers, the last of whom owned the car for some 28 years and commissioned an extensive body and paintwork restoration in the 1990s (see photographic record on file). Other major works carried out while in his ownership include refurbishment of the interior (new headlining, carpets, re-polished wood veneer), replacement of the original automatic transmission with the current manual/overdrive gearbox, and fitting a full stainless steel exhaust system. The chromed wire wheels are a more recent enhancement. Finished in opalescent light blue with grey leather interior, the car is described as in generally good condition, with very good body and paint, and offered with current road fund licence, MoT to April 2011 and Swansea V5.

    Car returns to auction 4/12
    www.coys.co.uk/auction.php

    Auction description:
    Lot 137 - 1967 Jaguar S-Type
    Estimate: £11,000 - £14,000
    Registration Number: RMK 946F
    Chassis Number: 1B56037BW
This 1967 example is described as being in excellent condition throughout and has recently undergone much work, including a top engine rebuild. We are informed that the car drives beautifully in every way and is finished in opalescent blue with a grey hide interior and a fine walnut dash, both described as excellent.

Sitting on chrome wire wheels this lovely example is supplied with bills and photographic restoration, old handbooks and manuals, a V5 registration document and old MoTs along with a current certificate; the S-Type remains an excellent example of one of Jaguars all-time great saloon cars.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
