"1965 JAGUAR S-TYPE 3.4 LITRE

VERY ORIGINAL CAR ONLY 6K MLS SINCE 1981

Trim Colour RED
Chassis No 1B4379DN

CC 3400
M.O.T JUNE 2005
In 1956, a new generation of more compact Jaguar saloons came to market, employing unitary-construction, rather than a separate chassis and body. Initially, with 2.4-litre version of the already famous 3.4 XK engine, from 1957, the 3442cc six also appeared under Mk1 bonnets. However, to counter criticism of narrow rear track skittishness and poor rear three-quarters visibility, a wider-tracked, thinner-pillared Mk2 3.4 with 3781cc option hit showrooms during 1959. The S Type was a re-styled Mk2 with the added refinement of independent rear suspension, resulting in a much smoother ride.
This S-Type 3.4 saloon first left the Jaguar Browns Lane works in 1965, the righthand drive four-door saloon claimed still to be original and unrestored. The 2040 RA private plate was in place 1981 to 2002 when the car was registered with the current period-correct FNA 42C registration. It is claimed that the mileage has only increased by 6000 miles since 1981, the 53,511 miles displayed when entered for the sale believed by the vendor to be the genuine total for the car from new.
The current condition of the bodyshell is described as being excellent, the same going for the grey paintwork and the red leather trim, though the vendor does say that the wooden fascia does need repolishing. Both 3.4-litre six-cylinder XK motor and four-speed manual transmission are also reportedly in excellent order. Both tax-exempt disc and current MOT certificate are valid until next June."
