Auction description:
Lot Number: 43
1967 Jaguar 340
Sold For £7,992
Reg Number: JKJ518E
Chassis Number: 171376
Engine Number: KJ104148
Cc: 3442
Body Colour: Red
Trim Colour: Grey
MOT ExpiryDate: Sept 2012

The 340 now being sold is a right-hand drive example that was produced in January 1967. It has Red coachwork and Grey interior trim and is equipped with the standard four-speed manual gearbox. The vendor inherited the vehicle, but is selling it as she does not drive. However, she can confirm that it has been loved and cherished and used for classic rallies and car shows etc. She regards the bodywork, paintwork, interior trim and transmission as "excellent" and the engine as "sound". `JKJ 518E' apparently comes complete with all relevant history and paperwork plus an MOT into September 2012.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
