Car to be at auction 6/25/15
www.coys.co.uk/auction.php
Auction description:
Lot 172 - 1963 Jaguar Mark II 3.4
Estimate: £20,000 - £25,000
Registration Number: CEY 1661
Chassis Number: 162695
Rolling off the Jaguar production line in 1963, the history of this lovely Jaguar is fascinating. It was owned from new by NASA Chief Engineer Milton Silveira. In 1951 Silveira joined NASA's predecessor, the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA), replaced by NASA in 1958. He worked on the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Skylab and Space Shuttle programs. In 1983, Silveira became NASA's Chief Engineer. In the aftermath of the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster in January 1986, he collaborated with an independent review board to investigate the causes.
Following Silveira's death in 2013 the Mark II found its way back to the UK and to the current owner, the son of a Jaguar development engineer of the 1960s.
Finished in the classic combination of jet black paint with a red leather interior, the patina of this unique car is described as breathtaking. This fabulous Mark II is offered with its original stamped and dated service booklet (dating to 1963), original boxed and unused tool kit, original manufacturer's warranty, US title document and UK V5.
With an indicated mileage of 67,800, this time-warp car is said to have no rust or rot, and according to the vendor is in excellent condition in all respects. An investment grade example of the marque.
