Someone, a brave man perhaps, began this restoration and, ultimately, gave it up. Why? Did the heart over-rule the head. Did the romance of rust lead him into the desert of despair? Did the bank manager say no? Who can say?
Every classic car has a story to tell, some more interesting than others. If only this MkII Jaguar could speak. Off the road since 1980, it's a 1962 model with wire wheels, a non-running but non-seized 3·8 litre engine (believed to be from a Jaguar MkX), wire wheels and a switch on the steering column that would indicate the option of overdrive, all of which makes it highly desirable.
It also has an interesting Dundee-issued number plate - YVJ 5 - which has not been allocated to another vehicle, according to an HPI/Experian check, so should be retrievable.
It would be an understatement to say that the car is in need of some attention, so let us just say that it is a car that is full of potential. But what potential: restored MkII Jaguars can fetch over £65,000 and 're-engineered' cars go for almost twice that. Not forgetting the joy of owning one of the finest cars of the 1960s.
Offered for sale with no documents, it also has no reserve so the highest bid takes it home - perhaps on the Brian James trailer elsewhere in this catalogue?
