Car was at auction 7/11/07
www.brightwells.com/classiccars/PastResults/tabid/321/Default.aspx

Auction description:
Body colour: Pearl Grey
Date Manufactured: 1960
Registration Number: WUN 276
Chassis Number: 152422DN
Engine Number: KG90989

First registered on 1st October 1960, this particular car was owned from new by the Whitehead family of Rhyl, Denbighshire, right up until 1985 when it was acquired by the current vendor, a retired AA patrolman. He embarked on a painstaking restoration of the car which included a full body restoration and a respray in Jaguar Pearl Grey, a full interior retrim including refurbishment of all the woodwork and a complete engine rebuild with new pistons etc.

The car has covered less than 2,000 miles since the restoration was completed in the early 1990s and is still in very good condition today. It comes complete with a Jaguar spare parts catalogue and workshop manual and is due to be freshly MOTd before the sale.

These handsome cars are great to drive and are still more than capable of keeping up with modern traffic. This one appears to be in fine fettle throughout and now just needs a new owner to give it the use it so richly deserves.
Guide price 8,400

Yes my father bought this car brand new from Braid Bros. in Colwyn Bay, years later when he bought an S type I had the Mk2 off him. I had many years of fun with the car and was sad to see it go to an AA man from Aberystwyth in 1985. I know it is very much still around and would love to meet up with the present owner.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
