Car to be at auction 6/14
www.coys.co.uk/auction.php

Auction description:
Lot 107 - 1963 Jaguar MKII 2.4
Estimate: €20,000 - €22,000
Registration Number: Greek Historic
Chassis Number: 127009

This matching numbers example of the legendary Jaguar MkII has had just two owners and was the subject to a well-documented restoration in May 2012. Work carried throughout the restoration included new paint in opalescent gunmetal grey, contrasting stunning new leather upholstery in 'Cartier red'.

The interior also benefitted from a new headliner and new carpets, both with sound & heatproof materials. All the woodwork was also varnished and new self-retracting front seat belts with Jaguar logo on the buckles were added. Throughout the restoration, the Jaguar was also fitted with highly desirable extras, such as a Getrag 5 speed gearbox conversion (the original gearbox is also available), electric power steering, a very rare Derrington steering wheel, stainless steel exhaust system with dual pipes, a very rare declining front seats and a classic style radio set by Autosound (with iPod, iPhone, MP3, CD player, USB input).

The engine bay also received a thorough service, including the Solex twin carburetors cleaned and serviced, air filter housings and other components were painted and polished accordingly, the radiator was flushed, pressure checked and repainted, a manually operated electric radiator fan was added as well as a modern alternator with negative ground polarity. The car comes complete with an extensive history file from new, including the original 1963 photocopies of Bill of Sale, Customs clearance and transport documents, as well as hundreds of step-by-step restoration photographs and invoices of spare parts and repair works, original photographs and a photocopy of the original owner's manual.

Also present with the car is the original toolbox and tools and jack, spare wheel, and a Jaguar Heritage certificate. FIVA registered and currently with E.O. FILPA Historic Plates, this 1963 Jaguar MKII 2.4 represents a unique opportunity to own a 51 year old classic family sports car in "as new" and well sorted condition, suitable for everyday trouble-free driving pleasure and/or for entering in Concours d'Elegance and/or Regularity Rally events.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
