Car to be at auction 11/09
www.coys.co.uk/auctions/lot.php

Auction description:
Lot 417
Registration Number: TGC253E
Chassis Number: 121744DN
This superb example, using a 1956 Jaguar as its base, was built by renowned marque specialists LR, now Realm.

Resplendent in the correct Ecurie Ecosse blue and with the correct and period Ecurie Ecosse badges, this 1967 XKSS tribute is described by the vendor as a stunning motor car to admire and drive. All running gear is made up from Jaguar components and the car is fitted with a 4.2 litre Jaguar twin overhead power unit mated to a Jaguar 4 speed over drive gear box, with independent front suspension and IRS rear end.

This splendid homage to the XKSS has the patina and look of a real multi million pound example. The black leather interior presents extremely well and has the look and feel of an original XKSS. Indeed, at first glance experts in the Jaguar field have confused the car with the real thing.

A fast and exciting drive, this legendary Jaguar has recently completed a thousand mile round trip to Spa Francochamps for the Spa Six Hours event in September 2009, where the car behaved without fault.

Complete with the correct pattern Mota-Lita D-Type steering wheel, as fitted to the original cars, Dunlop replica alloy wheels shod with new Avon 205/15 textile tyres, TGC253E is set up to an appropriate ride height and the vendor states that it is characterised by a period feel with safe and predictive handling.

Estimate: £35000 - £45000

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
