Car to return to auction 3/14
www.coys.co.uk/auction.php

Auction description:
Lot 137 - 1966 Jaguar MK II 3.4
Estimate: £20,000 - £25,000
Registration Number: MCH662D
Chassis Number: 119994DN

First registered on the 1st April 1966 this example of the legendary MK II is in good condition overall and mechanically in reported to be in excellent order. Described as 'driving very well' , the new 3.4 engine was subject to a rebuild just 15,000 miles ago. Bills are in the cars file.

Purchased by the vendor in its current 'Coombs Special' specification, the car comes with a history file including a variety of old MoT's, and a quantity of bills and receipts recording its maintenance, together with handbooks and a spare key!!

Finished in Black, the new contrasting red interior; this charming MKII represents a great opportunity to acquire a car capable of providing exhilarating performance, perhaps the perfect car for the weekend at Goodwood.

Car now offered (possibly sold) at:
www.classic-chrome.net/cars/jaguar-mkii-34-1966-d-black

Sellers description:
First registered as 1234 WY on 1st April 1966 this car was part of a private collection for many years and was restored in the late 1990's. The exact extent of the works carried out is not documented, but we do know that it began life as a 2.4 Litre Manual with Overdrive and in approx 1997 it was upgraded with a rebuilt Jaguar 340 power unit including Gearbox & Overdrive and some 'Coombes' additions including a louvred bonnet, modified rear wheel arches and uprated Brakes.

It remained in the collection until March 2007 when it was sold by H & H Auctions on his behalf and its original number plate 1234 WY was unfortunately retained and replaced with its new age related number MCH 662D. The mileage at this time was 12,789 which was the indicated mileage since the restoration in the late 1990's.

After being sold, the car was put into dry storage until Classic Car dealer ADW Automotive in Worcestershire purchased it in July 2011. They re-commissioned the car and carried out further restoration works over a 2 year period and there are invoices in the file amounting to £6,000 but much of these do not include any of their own labour costs.

The works carried out on the car included a full Brake overhaul with reconditioned Calipers, new hoses, new and raised Suspension including new bushes, new rear spring hangers new ball joints, some new panels including repainting, new rubber seals, carpet underlay and lots of service items and ancillaries. They sold the car in March 2013 to the last (7th owner) and he has subsequently had both carburettors reconditioned and carried out routine servicing.

The car is finished in almost unmarked Black paintwork with beautiful and very original Red Leather trim, new carpets and door cards, walnut dashboard and excellent wood trim throughout, period radio, wooden Mota-Lita Steering Wheel, 'hooded' head light covers and the all important Power Steering and Black painted wire wheels.

This is a fantastic example for this money and it drives as well as it looks and the total mileage covered since the rebuild is only 15,200 miles.

It will come fully serviced with a new MOT and our own customer care package HPI/provenance Checks, 55-point pre-delivery inspection and 6 months mechanical breakdown Parts & Labour Warranty which can be upgraded and extended at additional cost if required. It is of course road tax exempt.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
