Auction description;
Lot 23 of 160: 1965 Jaguar MK II 2.4 Litre
Estimate: £8,000 - £12,000
Registration No:ELF543C
Chassis No:118930BW
MOT:April 2020
- 2.4 Auto owned by the vendor since new
- Metallic Green with Beige leather, original tool kit
- Current MoT to April 2020, 78,127 miles
- Purchased from Jaguar's Piccadilly showroom
We are delighted to offer collectors a most unusual opportunity to acquire a truly one owner Mk2 which the vendor purchased from Jaguar's Piccadilly showroom at the suggestion of his mother back in 1965. We understand she felt a Jaguar was a far more suitable mode of transport for him than the Austin A40 which he traded in against it - she evidently had good taste as the car looks most attractive in Metallic Green complemented by Beige leather. Garaged all its life, ELF 543C displays excellent panel fit and has avoided the ravages of rust suffered by most other unrestored survivors although it would now benefit from some cosmetic tidying. The mileage at the time of cataloguing of 78,127 is correct from new and the car comes with a complete original toolkit - a very rare item these days. Maintained by the same mechanic for many years it is understood to drive well and is only now being offered for sale due to the owner's need to stop driving after reaching his 90th year (having started driving the car when he was 35!). Offered with Swansea V5 document, current MoT to 25 April 2020 and numerous expired MoTs and other sundry documentation, it is hoped that further paperwork relating to its early history may yet come to light.
