Lovely Australian delivery Jaguar Mark II 3.8

Lovely example of Jaguar's ultimate sports sedan
An original Australian-delivered example of Jaguar's ever popular Mark II sports saloon, this particular car was originally registered on Victorian plates HNU-632 on May 9, 1962. The known history dates back to 1980 when a former President of the Jaguar Club of Victoria purchased the car from the first owner in Mornington. The Jaguar passed to Geoff McInnes, an aero engineer from Mount Macedon, in March 2008, who carried out extensive restoration work including re-upholstering the seats in red leather, installing new carpets, refurbishing the timber and upgraded the car to 3.8-litre manual overdrive specification, replacing the original automatic gearbox. The current owner purchased the Jaguar back in 2011 and has continued to improve the car, upgrading the brake system with four SNG Barratt stainless steel calipers, electric ignition and new tie rod bushes while cosmetic improvements include a new steering wheel. Currently registered in Victoria on non-transferable club plates until November 2018, the Jaguar will therefore be sold unregistered and comes with a folder containing some history and receipts.

Australian delivered Jaguar Mark II
Upgraded to a 3.8-litre with manual overdrive transmission
Fine example of Jaguar’s ultimate sports sedan
An Australian-delivered example of Jaguar’s ever popular Mark II sports saloon, the car left the Browns Lane factory as a 2.4-litre automatic and was first registered on Victorian plates HNU-632 on May 9, 1962. The known history dates back to 1980 when a former President of the Jaguar Club of Victoria purchased the car from the first owner in Mornington.
Passing to Geoff McInnes, an aero engineer from Mount Macedon, in March 2008, the Jaguar was extensively refurbished during his ownership. Work included re-upholstering the seats in red leather, installing new carpets, refurbishing the timber and upgrading the drivetrain to the current 3.8-litre engine and manual overdrive gearbox. The next owner purchased the Jaguar back in 2010 and continued to improve the car, upgrading the brake system with four SNG Barratt stainless steel calipers, installing electric ignition and new tie rod bushes, while cosmetic improvements include a new steering wheel.
Sold through Shannons back in early 2018, the Jaguar relocated to Sydney with the most recent owner and has been enjoyed on weekends ever since. Receipts totalling in excess of $10,000 on file confirm our vendor replaced all the lower/upper ball joints, engine mounts, sway bar bushes and a new stainless steel exhaust system was fitted. The windscreen glass and rubbers were also replaced, new fuel hoses installed, an SU fuel pump fitted and the alternator replaced.
A good driver-level car, the Jaguar’s duco has deteriorated over the years, suffering from micro-blistering due to poor preparation, but the interior has a lovely ambience, with good upholstery, carpets, headliner and door cards. There is a period HMV radio fitted and the car has a smaller wood-rimmed steering wheel in place of the original item. Showing 32,504 miles on the clock and currently registered on non-transferable club plates, the Mark II will therefore be sold unregistered and with No Reserve, with a history/receipt file supplied.
