Car was at auction in '07
www.classicauctions.co.uk/lotdetail.php

Auction description:
Kempton Park Racecourse
Lot : 11
1960 JAGUAR MK II 2.4 LITRE
Estimate: £8000 - 10000
Mileage: 31140
Colour: GREY
Trim Colour: RED
Chassis No: 103433DN
Engine No: B951738
Registration No: 390 NVT
M.O.T: APRIL 2008
Finished in grey with red leather upholstery, this particular example is variously described by the vendor as being in "original / A1" (engine, four-speed manual plus overdrive gearbox, electrical equipment, interior trim, chassis), "original / excellent" (bodywork, paintwork) or "A1" (wheels / tyres) condition. Reportedly "owned by garage proprietor / Jaguar specialist Arthur Williams and his family for forty-five years", '390 NVT' is further understood to have covered just 31,000 miles from new. Apparently never exercised on wet roads, the saloon is said to "drive like a new car". Something of a timewarp, this appealing, low mileage MK2 is offered for sale with "original logbook / manuals etc" and MOT certificate valid until April 2008.

Car now offered at:

www.classic-trader.com/uk/cars/listing/jaguar/mk-ii/mk-ii-2-4/1960/341277

Seller's description:

Vintage & Prestige Fine Motor Cars, Grays, UK

Year of manufacture 1960

Chassis number 103433DN

1960 Jaguar Mark Two 2.4 litre manual

Chassis number: 103433DN

Registartion Number: 390NVT

A two owner time warp with just 36,000 mies covered from new. It is a totally original matching numbers example in really lovely untouched conditon. The owner now wishes to part with it due to his advanced age & simply seeks the money he gave for it a few years ago prior to entering his caring ownership.

To the exterior is its original pale grey paintwork in very good condition. The interior is red leather as it left Brown's Lane along with unchanged burr walnut woodwork. Under the bonnet the car is tidy & lovely as might be expected. The six cylinder twin cam fires up readily & provides plenty of performance. The manual gear box has good syncromesh & a taut tight feel to it commensurate with the low miles covered. Being a disc brake equiped car from new it stops as well as it goes.

It is always a pleasure to find low mile untouched cars like this & is definitely one for a collector or marque afficionado. It was raining on the day we saw the car so we will be re-photographing it again in the future.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
