Lot #96605
This 1960 Jaguar Mk II was built in November 1960 and dispatched through Jaguar Cars of New York. The car received exterior and interior color changes during a refurbishment completed under prior ownership in the UK in 2006, and mechanical recommissioning in 2017 included an engine rebuild, braking and suspension system overhauls, and replacement of the steering rack. The 3.8-liter inline-six is mated to a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive, and additional equipment includes dual SU carburetors, 15″ wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, and rear folding picnic trays. The current owner acquired the car in 2020, and subsequent work included an overhaul of the throttle linkage and replacement of the clutch and flywheel. This MK II is now offered at no reserve on dealer consignment with service records, a Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace Certificate, and a clean Texas title.
This MK II was originally finished in Cotswold Blue, and it was repainted in the current dark green under prior ownership according to the seller. Exterior details include a leaper hood ornament, driving lights, chrome bumpers with overriders, and front and rear vent windows.
Chrome-finished 15” wire wheels are secured with two-eared knock-off hubs and wear Michelin tires that were mounted in 2020, at which time the steering rack was replaced with a rebuilt unit. Braking is managed by four-wheel discs.
The cabin was trimmed in Dark Blue leather from the factory and was reupholstered in green leather under previous ownership. A Kenwood CD player is mounted in the center stack, burl wood trim accents the dashboard and doors, and wood picnic trays are provided for the rear occupants.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and a five-digit odometer showing 2k miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The twin-cam 3.8L inline-six is equipped with dual SU carburetors and features an exhaust manifold clad in heat wrap. The engine was overhauled by Authorized Imported Cars of Flemington, New Jersey, in 2017. Service in 2020 included an overhaul of the throttle linkage and replacement of the fuel supply hose and clutch hydraulics.
Cylinder-head stamping LA 8633-8 corresponds with the engine block stamp on the chassis identification plate and on the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through an overdrive-equipped replacement four-speed manual transmission that was serviced in 2022 with a replacement clutch and flywheel.
The 2019 Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate lists the factory colors and identification numbers along with the build date and distribution through Jaguar Cars of New York.
