Seller’s Description:
1960 Jaguar MK2 Sedan

Exterior
Noted Jaguar restorer Terry Lippincott, of Reading Pennsylvania poured over 1700 man hours into the creation of this one off 3.8 Sedan. Built over an 18-month period this Concours winning gem still looks as good as it did when the build was completed 25 years ago. A beautiful dark blue lacquer covers very straight and true steel body panels. Door and panel gaps remain flawless and consistent. Chrome and brite work are very clean, and all correct for this model. Louvering is seen in the bonnet deviates from the original but allows more airflow for the upgraded AC unit. Chromed spoked knockoffs are seen on all four corners. Simple but elegant would describe this saloon 4-door sports car. Yes, sports car.

Interior
Hand cut leather on seats and door trim, dyed with beautiful cranberry wrap the 2 front buckets, a rear bench, and door panels. Wilton wool carpeting shows flawless on the floor and compliments the leather seats. In true to British coach building tradition, burl walnut veneer, accented by cherry is attached to the dash surfaces. Save for a black metal area in the center that houses gauges, and a plethora of toggle switches, it's all wood, right down to the steering wheel emblazoned with a 3 dimensional Jaguar bust. Felt is seen on the headliner area and is in mint condition.

Drivetrain
A pristine 3.8 Liter double overhead cam engine, the same that powered the XK-150, and later XKE, is backed by a Model 65 Borg Warner Automatic aluminum transmission, and Landis torque converter. A new H/AC unit was installed with a Model SR833 unit with a turbo fan mounted in front of the AC compressor. With this a new 1966 3.8S radiator was beefed up and installed, as well as a 4.2 Liter water pump. To say this car blows cold is an understatement!

Undercarriage
In full British ''proper'' the pristine underside, shows 4-wheel disc brakes, powered by a new power brake unit. The starter and alternator are updated with 1976 XJ6 units and are powered through negative ground. A completely new brake power unit was installed as well as 1990 XJS short tower power steering rack and new power steering pump and brackets. Absolutely no rust, and a stainless steel exhaust can be seen throughout.

Offered is perhaps the finest driving, performing and cosmetically detailed Jaguar MK2 on the market today. More modern Jaguar technology and mechanicals incorporated into a timeless style making this Jaguar special beyond words. A complete photo history of every step of the restoration is included along with full documentation of all modifications performed at Lippincotts. Featured in the October 1998 edition of Autoweek magazine, it would be difficult to recreate this treasure at 3 times the cost at time of build. You must see this wonderful Jaguar utilizing all Jaguar updated parts. It feels as if you're driving an XKE with 4 doors and all the modern conveniences of today's sports sedans. I say!

This vehicle is in our showroom in Morgantown, Pennsylvania.

Price: $97,900

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
