Supplied new via Cottee & Edwards Ltd to A.P. Woodward Esq, chassis 170786DN is accompanied by its original owner's service policy document, periodic maintenance vouchers booklet and operating manual etc. Laid-up at some stage, the Jaguar was re-registered as `KWD 334D' on July 20th 1987. A comparatively late manual/overdrive MKII, it boasts the more desirable all-synchromesh four-speed gearbox. Displaying an unwarranted but not inconceivable 65,500 miles, the sports saloon appears to pleasingly retain its original 3.4-litre powerplant and red leather upholstery. Treated to over £2,500 of fettling (new clutch, steering column bearing set, brake adjustment etc) since entering the current ownership in 2009, `KWD 334D' is described by the vendor as being in "good" condition with regard to its engine, gearbox, electrical equipment, interior trim, bodywork and paintwork. Sporting a stainless steel exhaust, Coombs-style rear arches and wire wheels, it passed its last MOT on July 12th 2013 with no advisories.

Auction description:
1966 Jaguar Mk2 3.4 (Manual)
UK Home Market Car Restored Early 2000's Keen Reserve
Mileage~66,231
TransmissionManual with Overdrive
Engine3.4L
Location Sheffield
This well-presented example comes to the market from a ~2 year ownership. It is a UK home market RHD and is presented in "Opalescent Golden Sand" over red leather interior, with a manual gearbox with overdrive, and a 3.4L engine. The car received a body restoration by a previous keeper in the early 2000's. Whilst in Chris the vendor’s ownership, it has been used very little other than the odd run out on a sunny day.
Richard purchased the Jaguar a couple of years ago with a view to use the car regularly and even as a daily through the summer. With various work commitments and some hectic running about, the relaxed daily commute never happened, which meant the Jaguar has spent most of its time in storage throughout his ownership – which is the reason for the sale of the 60s classic.
Wheels and Tyres
Fitted with wire wheels, these are in good condition with just a light amount of tarnishing. Looking through the invoices, these were replacement items in the restoration. The tyres are a matching set of Vredestein Sprint Classics and have plenty of tread remaining.
Bodywork
Looking around the car, the Jaguar presents very well. The panel gaps appear to be equal and there were no dings or dents spotted when we visited the car. We didn't spot any obvious corrosion either, and again, looking at the invoices you can see that any corrosion was treated in the restoration.
We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our hi-resolution images and videos.
Paint
Finished in the stunning "Opalescent Golden Sand", the paintwork is in excellent order. The car was repainted as part of the restoration, and looks to have completed under ~5,000 miles since. There are no obvious chips to mention other than a couple of minor blemishes which have to be looked for.
The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there yourself.
Glass and Trim
All windows are in good order for their age, with no excessive scratches or marks. The seals and chrome trims are all in good condition. The car received the "Coombs" spats as part of the restoration too.
All of the lights are free from damage and the chrome work has a bright finish with just a very minor amount of tarnishing in a couple of areas.
Interior
The red leather is a classic look against the gold exterior and works perfectly.
Seats and Carpets
All of the interior appears to be original, therefore it does have some signs of patina to the leather in keeping with the age of the Jaguar, but it does add some nice character to it.
The red carpets are in good condition throughout the cabin, and in the boot the spare wheel is present along with a knock-off hammer.
Dashboard
The beautifully crafted wooden dashboard is in excellent condition, along with the fascia which has no splits or cracks to the lacquer.
The instruments are said to be working correctly and the odometer shows a reading of ~66,231 miles.
Steering Wheel / Gear Stick
The original steering wheel is in good order and doesn’t have signs of excessive wear or use for its age.
The same can be said for the four-speed gear stick, the red leather surround looks good too.
Mechanics
A 3.4-litre inline-six is the perfect unit for the Mk2, offering a fine balance of performance and economy.
Engine and Gearbox
The 3.4-litre fires up without hesitation and runs super smoothly, with no issues reported by the vendor.
On the road, the Jag pulls well through the four-speed gearbox, which does have overdrive. There was also a new clutch fitted in 2010.
Suspension and Brakes
Out in the car, the Jaguar is a joy to be in; it soaks up the road perfectly with no knocks or bangs from either corner.
The disc brakes all around ensure the Mk2 comes to a stop in a straight line, with a firm feel to the pedal and no juddering.
The Drive
Driving the 1966 Jaguar Mk2 is a charming, vintage experience. With its sleek curves, wood interior and leather seats, it feels classy and nostalgic.
The 3.4-litre engine offers smooth, lively performance, while the steering adds to its engaging, analogue feel. It’s not modern, but it’s full of character and a great experience.
Electrics and Other
All switchgear appears to function correctly, and the switches are cosmetically in good condition.
There is a period-looking head unit installed, which does have Bluetooth connectivity.
History and Paperwork
Coming to market from ~2 year ownership, this UK RHD comes in a desirable specification with manual gearbox with overdrive, was restored in the early 2000's and has the original handbook, service book and a stack of previous MOT certificates making up the history.
The Jaguar’s history file is quite comprehensive, with previous invoices present along with old MOT certificates and the original service book which some stamps.
A lovely, well-presented British classic which is very usable and is easily capable of keeping up with modern-day traffic – with the added bonus of being super cool, it’s a Mk2 Jag after all.
We’ve carried out our usual seller checks, including verifying photo ID, the V5C, and an HPI check. This confirms the car has not been stolen, written off, or has any outstanding finance. Please note: This check does not include mileage verification.
