Car at auction 9/25

www.historics.co.uk/auction/lot/lot-264---1961-jaguar-mk-ii-38/

Auction description:

20th Sep, 2025 Pace of Autumn; Ascot Racecourse

Lot 264

1961 Jaguar Mk. II 3.8

Estimate £14,000 - £20,000

Registration: 333 MHY

Chassis No: 108755DN

Odometer: 84,342

Manual transmission

Low ownership

This handsome Jaguar was originally registered in June 1961 and presents well in restored white coachwork with a matching, retrimmed white interior piped in red and red carpets. Both the woodwork and the chrome are in good order as is the engine bay and really complement this stunning example. Our vendor is only the third owner of this iconic Jaguar which has been in his possession since 2009. The restoration works were completed during his tenure. The file for this Jaguar contains various bills and receipts and the current V5c registration document. This big engined Mk. II has seen little use in recent years and is only being sold due to an imminent house move and loss of parking space. The estimate appears extremely reasonable given the recent figures achieved for similar examples. Consigned by Dominic Lake

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
